This is pretty much turing into a journal since no-one ever
comes here.
Anyway... I have the possibility of 3 maybe 4 engines to
swap in for more power and performance options.
I could go with the tried and true B16A.
-
JDM B16A1
- 1.6 DOHC VTEC
- Cable Tranny
- 160 hp @7600
This is the Jap version of the B16A. It came in the much heavier
Civic Si's and Integra's.
The B20A2
- JDM B20A2
- 2.0i -16 valve PGMFi
- Twin cam
- Must get with tranny and get rear JDM tranny mount
This is found in Jap '88 Accords. Codenamed "Firestorm"
The other two engines are the B18A and the B17A. Still looking
for info.
The cheapest option is the B16. It has the most performance
parts and ready made turbo kits. But the hp and torque are kinda
bad. 160 @7600? I get 98 @ 3500 now. Soon to be 120 when I do
the Fi conversion.
The stock power option would be the B20A2. I will then at a
later date convert this to VTEC using the B16A head (still workin
this one out). This is NOT the engines found in American Preludes
of the same year. Something about it tilting forward or backward.
I think I might be able to get this from the CRV. ...Maybe.
I am trying to be pratical in this swap also. I don't wanna
have to order new alternator and water pumps from Redline or
have them inported. I can't afford the downtime for that crap.
The B20A2 from JDM Accord also requires the tranny. The word
is that not many came with 5-spds over there so I might be able
to get the European Version.
What ever option I choose expect it to be a power house 'cause
i'm goin forged pistons, port and polish, and the other fun
stuff while I get everything together. Depending on how I go,
I might have to get new mounts, custom axles and shift linkage,
and other needed thing from Place Racing.
Later.
